Development
I shot the dolly motion with a skateboard. In post-production, I exported two versions of the clip, an mp4 file with extra sharpness for 3D tracking in Blender, and an EXR sequence in ACES color space with noise reduction applied, ready for keying in After Effects.
After 3D tracking in Blender, I imported the 3D environment created by my teammates to set up the virtual scene and prepare it for animation.
The keyed EXR sequence was then imported into Blender to replace the mp4 file.
I animated the robots, then rendered each layer separately, the shadows of the plate on the table had to be exported separately and then masked in After Effects.
The compositing was done in After Effects with many layers for objects, characters, shadows, fog and backgrounds.
